Matthew Tointon joined Homerton in 2013 as a Junior Research Fellow, immediately following his PhD. He spent the academic years 2014/15 and 2015/16 away at Université Paris-Sud, France, before leaving in 2017 to take up a post-doctoral position at the Université de Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Shortly after starting his role in Neuchâtel he was elected an Associate Fellow of Homerton. He is now the Stokes Research Fellow at Pembroke College, Cambridge, affiliated to the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge.
Dr Tointon's work lies broadly at the interface between additive combinatorics and geometric group theory. More generally, he tends to be interested in questions that involve some combination of algebra, combinatorics, geometry and probability.
