Access and Outreach
Homerton College is committed to encouraging the very best students to apply to the University of Cambridge.
We welcome all students with the academic potential and enthusiasm to succeed, regardless of their school or background. Our aim is to raise students’ aspirations and educational potential by giving tailored advice and guidance at all stages of school education. We remain dedicated to ensuring all those who apply are treated fairly, and that fair access to the University is promoted and sustained.
The College offers information, advice and guidance in many different ways to ensure no student is discouraged from applying to us. As well as dispelling common myths that often surround the University of Cambridge, such as ‘financial barriers’ and ‘suitability for study’, extensive support can be offered. This covers a wide range of areas, from starting to think about higher education to detailed admissions and application workshops.
Although we cannot provide in-person events during the pandemic, these sessions can now be offered virtually in Zoom Webinars for up to 500 students. We hope to resume school visits towards the end of the year.
The Cambridge Foundation Year
Homerton will be one of a number of Colleges to welcome Cambridge Foundation Year students in October 2022, as part of the University’s landmark programme.
The Cambridge Foundation Year is a free and fully-funded one-year residential course designed to offer a stepping stone to Cambridge for those who have experienced educational disadvantage.
If you want to study courses in the Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences, are ordinarily resident in the UK, and circumstances have prevented you from realising your academic potential, this is an opportunity not to miss.
Students will have the option of studying at Homerton or one of the other participating Colleges and will benefit from the community, support and academic stimulation this offers, which is intrinsic to the Cambridge experience.
Further information on applying to the Foundation Year Programme and the programme’s course structure and content may be found on the Foundation Year Website
Please contact the Schools and Colleges Liaison Officer to inquire about virtual events that we can offer this year.
The University of Cambridge runs the Area Links Scheme which means Homerton College has particular responsibility for certain regions. Please visit the link area page for more information.
