Can I visit Homerton?
We'd be delighted to see you. This is the best way to find out more about the College, and we welcome visits from all potential applicants. The ideal way to do this is to come to one of our Open Days, when you will be able to meet the Admissions Staff, Directors of Studies and current Homerton students. We're happy for these to be attended by individuals or by groups from schools and colleges. Details of our Open days can be found below.
If you are unable to attend one of the Open Days, but would like to visit the College, arrangements can be made for you to come to see us at other times; so do get in touch. We are also always pleased to visit schools in response to invitation, to meet teachers and groups of potential applicants.
Homerton's students are also very willing to answer any enquiries you may have about the college from a student's perspective. The Homerton Union of Students (HUS) has its own website and one of its officers will respond to email enquiries at the following e-mail address:
Open Days for prospective undergraduates at Homerton College in 2012
Saturday 12th May 2012 (Mathematics Open Day) 12.00pm - 5.00pm
This Open Day is for prospective applicants for Mathematics. It will include a talk by our Director of Studies in Maths and our Admissions Tutor, the opportunity to meet some current Maths students over lunch and the chance to visit the Faculty of Mathematics in the afternoon to attend some taster lectures. Places for this Open Day must be booked in advance.
Thursday 5th July 2012 (Informal drop in for student-led tours) 2.00 - 5.00pm
Homerton will be open to visitors on the afternoon of the 5th July between 2.00-5.00pm, where some of our current students will be able to show you around the college. Admissions Office staff will also be on hand to answer any questions that you have. It isn’t necessary for you to book for this, please simply drop in and make your way to the Porters’ Lodge.
Friday 6th July 2012 (All subjects) 10.15am - 1.30pm
On the 6th July, we will be offering a more structured open day in the morning (for which we ask you to book). The morning will include a presentation by the Admissions Tutor, informal meetings with our Directors of Studies, refreshments and tours of the College led by current students. Lunch will be provided and visitors are then free in the afternoon to attend the Cambridge Open Day. Places for this Open Day must be booked in advance.
The College will also be open between 2.00-5.00pm on the 6th July for visitors to drop by for a student-led tour. It isn’t necessary to book for this part of the day and visitors should simply report to the Porters’ Lodge on arrival.
Please note that the Open Days at Homerton in July 2012 will run alongside the Cambridge Open Days, where prospective applicants will have the opportunity to explore other parts of the University. Booking a place
Places for the College Open Days must be booked at least two weeks in advance. To book, please either telephone the Admissions Office at Homerton on 01223 747252 or use our booking forms (below), which can be emailed back to the Admissions Office. We will confirm bookings by email and further details will be sent to visitors approximately two weeks before the event.
Accommodation
Accommodation may be available at the College for those unable to travel home on the same day. Our bed and breakfast price is £20 per night. Any accompanying parents or guardians who also require accommodation can book rooms from £40 per night (bed and breakfast). Finally, the University of Cambridge website (http://www.cam.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/opendays/) contains lots of useful information about applying and studying at the University, including the ‘Following in the Footsteps’ interactive tour of Cambridge. In addition some of the sessions at the general Cambridge Open Days will be filmed and made available online over the summer.
