Our Data Protection Values

Homerton College shares an alumni database with the University Development Office (CUDO) which both parties can access with shared records being viewable by both organisations.  Most records contain education, contact details, career and other achievements.  We record contact since graduation, donations, reference to your interests, membership of clubs and societies and sensitive data provided for a specific purposes (disability or dietary requirements for event management for example).  We also record the news you give us for inclusion in the Roll News Publication. In some cases other data is added, for example financial and personal data from reputable public sources.

All information is held and transmitted securely and treated with confidentiality. The records are used by the College for alumni relations and fundraising purposes.  This includes the sending of the Homertonian, alumni surveys, appeals and the marketing of alumni events.  Communications may be sent by post, telephone or, increasingly, electronic means.  The University’s full data protection statement (including details of controlled data sharing with partners) is available at http://alumni.cam.ac.uk/dataprotection.

The College can facilitate communication between individual alumni, but in doing so does not release personal contact details without prior permission. The information will not be disclosed to external organisations other than those acting as agents for the College.

If you have any queries, wish to restrict data processing or sharing, including use for marketing, or do not want to be contacted by Homerton College, please inform us by contacting the Development and Roll Office at roll@homerton.cam.ac.uk.  (Minimal information is always retained so you are not contacted inadvertently: name, subject, matriculation and graduation details, USN and date of birth.)  You will also need to contact the University separately at enquiries@foundation.cam.ac.uk if you wish to restrict University data processing, sharing, marketing or contact.
