Hermes Webmail is a service which allows users to access their email using a Web browser, so that it is accessible from any Internet-connected system anywhere in the world. The Cambridge Webmail system gives secure access to Hermes mail and provides almost all the facilities available by other means on Hermes. This guide will show you how to login and logout of your account, add contacts to your address book, compose and attach documents to your emails.
Naming your PC for connection to the network
Before bringing your computer to the college your PC will normally be named something personal to you for example "John's Computer". Unfortunately, this is not suitable for the maintenance and tracking required by the network administration team to ensure a continued smooth operation of the services available.
This guide will show you how and where to change the name of your computer and will provide an insight into the naming conventions used by the college
Installing the Bradford Persistent Agent
On connecting your computer to Homerton ResNet, you will be required to install a security agent on your computer. The Persistent Agent application maintains communication with the Campus Manager system, helping to ensure your computer is kept up-to-date and secure from the latest exploits and malware, it is also used by the College to send important messages to ResNet users (i.e. reporting downtime or an emergency)
