Welcome to the Homerton College ResNet Website

ResNet (Residential Network) is a managed network that is operated by Homerton College. On connecting to the network there are policies as to what you can and can't do.

ResNet provides an Internet service to College members that have accommodation on campus and wish to subscribe to the network. The cost is £60 for the year, which will be automatically added to your College bill. Bedroom internet connections are not compulsory, you are able to opt out and not be charged the £60 service fee.

What you do get if you subscribe is a 24 hour, shared 100mb connection to the Internet (subject to our ISP), Telephone and Online support, documentation and troubleshooting. (On connection of your PC to the Internet at Homerton you become part of a Managed Network, it is not open Internet access. There are still restrictions and policies as to what you can and can't do. This is not similar in any way to a broadband service you may have at home)

What you need:

  • A Desktop or Laptop Computer
  • CPU at least Pentium 4 2.66GHz or higher
  • Minimum of 1GB RAM
  • An RJ-45 Network Card, Wireless is available as a secondary service in some locations

All system restore CDs, and driver media: Windows XP and Microsoft Office CDs are often required when installing security patches or upgrading the operating system software, and secondly in case of the requirement for disaster recovery.

Please backup all of your essential data prior to connection.
