Homerton College library is a modern, well stocked, open plan facility covering most academic subjects. Our main aim is to provide material supporting undergraduates taking Part 1 of the Cambridge Tripos for all the subjects offered by Homerton.
We have a number of special collections, the most notable of which are the Children's Literature Collection and the Multimedia Collection (with DVDs, CDs and printed music - sets of parts are available for hire).
The College library catalogue holds records for all items kept in the Library. It can be accessed at http://heritage.homerton.cam.ac.uk/. You can login to review your account, place reservations and renew your books.
Homerton is also a contributor to the University Library catalogue known as Newton http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/newton/. Newton is the combined online catalogue for the libraries of the University and is divided into a number of databases. If you want to search multiple libraries for an item, try using LibrarySearch http://search.lib.cam.ac.uk, which searches across all of Newton at once. Please note that not all of Homerton's items are currently accessible on either of these catalogues and they do not show availability of our items.
The University provides full text access to academic ejournals, ebooks and over 400 online databases. These can be accessed on campus (and off campus with a Raven password) via http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/eresources/
The Music Hire Service is run in collaboration with Christ's College. Both College Libraries have large collections of instrumental and vocal music available for hire including hundreds of orchestral and choral sets. Members of Homerton and Christ's may borrow music from either library for free, and external users can also hire music at a low cost. Our hire periods are flexible to suit you. For more details and to view the catalogue please visit: http://www.christs.cam.ac.uk/current-students/library/music-hire or email email@example.com
Our aim is to provide a stress-free environment for studying. The library team are always happy to help, just pop in and speak to us, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01223 747260. For those moments when you need to take a break from the books we have jigsaws and a chess set in the ground floor reading area, and during Easter term we provide squash and biscuits every week-day afternoon.
There are over 60 work spaces in the Library, with a mixture of large shared desks and individual study carrels. There are also a number of comfortable chairs in the reading area on the ground floor.
A photocopier is situated on Floor 1 (there are also photocopiers in the HUS Office). All are operated by pre-purchased non-reusable cards. The library has a laser printer for colour and mono printing accessible from your own laptop or from the managed cluster service computers. Two A4 scanners are also available.
