Abigail Rokison wins the inaugural Shakespeare's Globe Book Award

Photo: Abigail RokisonGlobe Education has announced Shakespearean Verse Speaking by scholar and  actress Abigail Rokison, Fellow of Homerton College, is the winner of the inaugural Shakespeare's Globe Book Award. Published by Cambridge University Press, the book combines scholarship and practical exploration from the rehearsal room to consider how editorial decisions influence theatrical delivery. The Shakespeare's Globe Book Award is granted to a first monograph published in the last two years which has made an important contribution to the understanding of Shakespeare, his theatre, or his contemporaries.

Abigail Rokison will deliver public lectures about her work, supported by Globe actors, at three venues: Shakespeare's Globe on 10 October, the 2012 Times Cheltenham Literature Festival on 11 October, and at the Shakespeare Institute later in the year.
