Wireless networking

The IT Department provides wireless via two different services – click the relevant service for instructions on how to connect:

Eduroam

Eduroam (education roaming) is provided for use by staff and students – eduroam is a global initiative to provide wireless Internet access to academic users at any participating educational institution. This means you can configure your device for eduroam access whilst in Cambridge, where it's provided all around the University, and also be able to access the Internet without making any configuration changes at another eduroam-enabled university.

Token
Before attempting to connect to eduroam, please visit the UCS Tokens Service and note down your eduroam identifier and network access token.
When you are prompted for a username whilst setting up your device, be sure to enter your eduroam identifier exactly as it appears on the Tokens Service website – e.g., 'fjc55@cam.ac.uknot 'fjc55'.

Getting connected
Automated configuration tools or profiles are provided for Microsoft Windows and OS X. Mobile devices such as phones and tablets are also able to connect, however their connection procedure varies from device to device.
You will find guides to set up eduroam on a range of devices here.

UniofCam Guest

We encourage staff members to connect to Eduroam however, Homerton College Wi-Fi is provided for use by conference delegates and other visitors to the college who do not have access to eduroam either as a member of the University or another educational establishment. The UniofCam Guest wireless network covers the majority of the campus – coverage priority is given to meeting rooms, bedrooms and communal areas; corridors and outside areas often receive coverage as a consequence of being in range of a meeting room or bedroom, however, coverage in those areas is not guaranteed.

Simply select the network and visit any web browser. You will then be prompted to connect using existing social media accounts. For any users without social media, please visit the conference reception who be able to provide you with a network token to access the internet during your visit.
