College Information for MEd Offer-Holders 2017-2018

You are here

Congratulations on being accepted as a new or continuing member of Homerton College!

We have produced an MEd Information Booklet which may help to answer any questions you may have about Homerton College and Cambridge.  Please read this carefully and contact the PGCE/MEd Administrator if you have any queries.  The checklist (What You Should Do Next) on page 8 of your booklet provides details of the forms we require before you start your course.

Matriculation and University Card

All NEW students of Cambridge University are asked to sign up to University regulations concerning Disciplinary procedures and the Data Protection Act; this is known as Matriculation. PGCE students from Homerton College and students who have already matriculated as members of another Cambridge College are NOT required to do so again.

College matriculation will take place on Saturday 14th October, from 12:30pm in the Homerton College Combination Room as part of our Start of Year Programme.  It is compulsory for all new students to matriculate so, if in exceptional circumstances you are not able to matriculate on this date, please contact the PGCE/MEd Administrator as a matter of urgency to organise a suitable time to complete this.

All students will receive their University Cards from the Faculty of Education when they arrive for their first session, these will have been programmed to allow you access to the College site.  Please note: if you are new to Cambridge you must have uploaded a suitable passport photograph to your online self-service account in order for your University Card to be produced.

MEd Matriculation Lunch

The MEd Matriculation Lunch will take place on Saturday 14th October in the Fellows' Dining Room.  We would like to invite all Homerton MEd students to join us for this occasion which includes a drinks reception, lunch and MEd photograph. There will also be a College Induction Talk with the Graduate Tutor, as well as the option of participation in tours of the College grounds and the Library.  Full details about the event can be found on our Start of Year programme.  If you would like to attend either the Induction Talk, the Matriculation Lunch, or either of the College tours, please respond to the invitation by Thursday 5th October indicating any dietary requirements.  A ticket will be emailed to you in October.

College and Library Tours

The optional Library tour is designed to provide students with information about our self-service facility and our resources, and is particularly beneficial for those on the Children's Literature course, or those with an interest in this area of research; however, we welcome requests for the tour from all MEd students.  Most graduate students will normally use reference materials held in their Faculty Library.  College facilities such as the Hall, gym and MCR (graduate common room) will also be introduced.

The College and Library tours will take place on Saturday 14th October from 2.45 pm, after the MEd Matriculation Lunch.  If you wish to book a place on the tour, please contact the PGCE/MEd Administrator.

All MEd students are granted a parking permit for the duration of their studies.  If you would like a car parking permit for the academic year 2017/18, please return the completed Student Parking Permit Application Form to the PGCE/MEd Administrator before the start of term.  Parking is permitted in the Visitors' car park at the end of Harrison Drive on the left.  A parking permit will be emailed to you before the start of term and your University Card will be programmed to allow entry to the car park.
