The Library is available 24 hours 7 days a week to students and staff with authorised access cards.

Full Term staffed hours

Weekend staffed hours depend on the availability of student helpers and are therefore subject to alteration or cancellation without notice.

Vacation staffed hours

Homerton College Library is a modern, well stocked, open-plan facility covering most academic subjects. We have a number of special collections, the most notable of which are the Children's Literature Collection and the Multimedia Collection (with DVDs, CDs and printed music - sets of parts are available for hire). The College library aims to provide material supporting undergraduates taking Part 1 of the Cambridge Tripos. The library, in common with most of the college, offers eduroam wi-fi access.

Loans Using the University Smart Card or Appropriate Library Card

• 15 items maximum.
• Items are issued for 14 days.
• Items on loan to another reader can be reserved.
• Loan renewals by email, telephone, online, or at the Library self-issue screens for items not overdue by more than 5 days.
• Longer loan periods are provided over the holidays.
• Fines may be charged in cases where specific recall notices are ignored.

• Multimedia Collection (MMC) – DVDs, CDs, videotapes, music scores and sets of parts (note that music text books are at Dewey 780-788 on the Ground Floor).
• Journals – a selection of older print journals in alphabetical order, reference only
• Local Collection (LC) - reference only
• Managed desktop workstations (MCS, formerly ‘PWF’)

The internal College library catalogue holds records for all items kept in the Library. It can be accessed at http://heritage.homerton.cam.ac.uk/.

Newton catalogue

Homerton is also a contributor to the University Library (UL) catalogue known as NEWTON. NEWTON is the online catalogue for the libraries of the University, including Cambridge University Library and its dependent libraries, and most faculty, departmental and college libraries. Not all Homerton items are currently accessible on NEWTON and this catalogue cannot show availability of our items. NEWTON is at http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/newton or use the new LibrarySearch at http://search.lib.cam.ac.uk/.

Ejournals, ebooks and online databases

The University provides full text access to academic ejournals, ebooks and over 400 quality online databases. These can be accessed on campus (and off campus with a Raven password) via http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/electronicresources/

Naxos Music Library

We offer access to the Naxos Music Library (NML), an online music listening service with over 50,000 titles streamed in near cd quality to your computer (off campus access is provided with a password from the Library). More information on NML at http://www.naxosmusiclibrary.com

Photocopying, Printing and Scanning
