As well as leading decisions on admissions and supporting students once they arrive at Homerton, our Admissions Tutors Dr Paul Elliott (Sciences Admissions Tutor) and Dr Georgie Horrell (Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Admissions Tutor) are both passionate about ensuring no prospective applicant is deterred from applying to Homerton due to their socio-economic and/or ethnic background, or negative perception of Cambridge.
Paul has organised several outreach and scientific engagement courses, including for the Sutton Trust, the TeachFirst Higher Education Access Programme, and Kings and Pembroke Summer Programmes. Georgie has a wide range of teaching experience – both in high schools as well as at University; in England as well as in South Africa. Georgie is currently working with the Centre for Commonwealth Education as a core member of the Caribbean Poetry Project team in Cambridge who are collaborating with University of West, and has represented Homerton at numerous UCAS and school events. Paul and Georgie also work closely with Homerton’s Schools Liaison Officer – frequently joining webinars and events to offer expert admissions advice to prospective applicants.
Our wider community of academic staff also often join our Access and Outreach team; assisting with subject open days and subject-specific workshops as part of our Homerton Access Course.
