Alongside the central Cambridge Student Union, each College has its own College-based JCR (to represent their undergraduate community) and MCR (to represent their post-graduate community). Homerton College is no exception! Our Homerton Union of Students JCR supports and represents all students within our community. Each year, a new HUS Target and Access Officer is elected. The Target and Access Officer is responsible within the HUS for outreach and widening participation and supporting prospective applicants from backgrounds traditionally less well represented at Cambridge. They work closely with our Schools Liaison Officer and wider Access and Outreach team – mainly via the annual Homerton College Shadowing Scheme (currently on-hold due to the pandemic)– which they coordinate.
The HUS Liberation Officers form another important part of our Access and Outreach team – often working as student-helpers for Access and Outreach events that are specifically focused on improving access to Cambridge for the communities they represent.
