Ricky Hibble

Ricky Hibble (BA Geography 2015-18) served as Vice-President (Internal) of the Homerton Union of Students in his final year, having “run against himself” in the elections. In charge of helping with the day-to-day running of the HUS office, as well as events such as Freshers’ Week, he laughs that he was “on paper very busy”, though the responsibilities of high office don’t appear to have weighed too heavily on his shoulders. His biggest challenge was attempting to portray an air of respectability and responsibility when on duty at Bops.

Ricky was also involved in the College Mixed Lacrosse team throughout his time at Homerton, and its meteoric rise to Division One.

After graduating from Cambridge, Ricky completed a Masters in Environmental Policy and Regulation at LSE. He then joined the Ofgem Graduate Scheme, and now works within its Strategy and Decarbonisation team, primarily on electric vehicles but also involved in the “response to the huge challenges of the past few months in terms of energy prices and the impacts on consumers.”

Having returned to Homerton regularly in the year after he left, the pandemic coincided with a stage when, he says, “you have to make a bit of a break anyway – it would be a bit weird to be always hanging around your old College!”

"I'm really looking forward to returning - receiving an MA feels like a uniquely Cambridge justification to have a bit of a reunion. Homerton was a fantastic few years."
