TWO HOMERTON alums are set to compete against each other in the Women’s Eights rowing finals taking place tomorrow morning at the Paris Olympics.
Three-time world champion Olivia Coffey, an established part of Team USA, will line up against Team GB cox Henry Fieldman.
The epic race is set for 9.50am British time tomorrow, Saturday 3 August.
The occasion is unlikely to faze the pair who both competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Coffey (2017) studied Business Administration, while Fieldman (2012) undertook a Masters in Psychology and Education.
Both have pedigree in the Cambridge Boat Race, with Coffey a 2018 winner and Fieldman triumphing in 2013.
They can also boast a cupboard full of medals. New York State-born Coffey collected gold in the World Rowing Championships in 2013, 2015 and 2018, plus a gold with the Under 23s in 2010.
London-born Fieldman, who grew up in Barnes, has two World Rowing Championship golds, in 2015 and 2016, two European titles, and bronze from the last Olympics.
USA and Great Britain will be lining up against Australia, Canada, Italy and world record holders Romania.
There can only be one winner tomorrow, but we wish both Homertonians well. They will forever be winners!
