Homerton Fellow, Professor Ravi Gupta expressed delight after being named Professor of Global Health at the University of Cambridge.

Homerton Principal Lord Simon Woolley also welcomed the news, saying the role would have a major impact on vaccination research.

Professor Gupta was elected Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Professor of Global Health at the University of Cambridge, and the role is expected to help build a new international partnership between the University of Cambridge, Hong Kong University (HKU), and the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) in Seoul.

Professor Gupta said: “I am incredibly honoured to be taking up this exciting new position as co-director of HKJC Global Health Institute and as chair of Global Health here at Cambridge.

“My vision is to build a world-leading global health base in Cambridge and to enable transformative advances in pandemic preparedness through GHI and its evolving network of partners.”

Lord Woolley added: “This is a great but well-deserved honour bestowed on Professor Gupta. This role and recognition will allow Professor Gupta to continue to make a global difference."
