Open Mic Event with MCR, 16 Nov, 7.30pm @ Drawing Room

Have a drink, some food, and come and talk about what matters to you. Homerton Changemakers in collaboration with MCR invites you to an open mic event to talk about your experiences, on the 16th of November, at 7:30pm in the Drawing room!

Share a poem or a song, talk about what bothers you or what you like in today’s society.  In today’s world, there are so many different issues that we face that it often feels difficult to make sense of where to begin or how to engage with others on what matters most.  Having Open Conversations in a safe space can help us to find the connections between the ideas we hold and concepts we might need to push ourselves to explore further.

Respect is the key idea; everyone should feel welcome to talk about what they face in today’s world. We hope to inspire change in our society, but to achieve it we must all accept our role and confront our own shortcomings. Change happens through understanding as much as through action.

This Open Mic event is intended to be inclusive to all communities: students of colour, LGBT students, and every other member of the Homerton community. We hope to attract people of different ages, with different experiences and from different cultures to really see the world through different prisms.

Speak up, and bring forward the future you want to see. Just drop by the Drawing Room on 16th November at 7.30pm. No registration needed.

This event is delivered by Changemakers Ambassadors: Eyal Cohen, Anushka Bhaskar and Najib Sharifi, in collaboration with MCR
