Ceri was previously a barrister in the field of company law, taking silk in 2012 and specialising in company reorganisations requiring court approval. She was a co-author of The Law of Majority Shareholder Power: Use and Abuse (OUP, 2017), and a contributor to Buckley on the Companies Acts and to various other works on company law.

In 2019, following many years as an active member of her local church, Ceri began training for ordination at Ridley Hall, whilst studying for the BTh (Theology for Ministry) at Magdalene College, Cambridge. She was ordained in 2021. After two years as a curate at St John the Evangelist, Cambridge, Ceri was seconded to Great St Mary’s, the University Church, for her final year of curacy. In 2024 Ceri re-joined St John the Evangelist as Associate Vicar and took up the role of Choir Chaplain.
