Dr Rea Bingula
College Research Associate
Dr Rea Bingula is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease. As a part of Dr Virginia Pedicord’s lab, her main focus is exploring the mechanism by which a specific bacterial metabolite, lipopolysaccharide, improves the response to cancer immunotherapy.
Dr Bingula obtained her MSc in molecular biology and biotechnology jointly from University of Zagreb, Croatia, and University of Orléans, France. In 2019, she was awarded a PhD in Biology & Health from University Clermont Auvergne, France. There, she studied both gut and lung microbiota in lung cancer patients and their link with immune response. This was followed by a 2-year position as Research and Lecture Assistant in biochemistry and molecular biology at Faculty of Pharmacy, University Clermont Auvergne, before starting a PostDoc focusing on immune response post-vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 (UMR1019 UNH, France).
