With a distinguished career in educational leadership and reform, Dr Mims brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of driving positive change in educational academic institutions.

After earning a doctorate from Teachers College Columbia University, Dr Mims served as the Dean of Education at Wiley University, where he successfully attracted new talent to the teaching profession by creating a structured degree completion process and launching comprehensive faculty development programs.  His initiatives enhanced the quality of education and empowered aspiring educators to reach their full potential.

As a former Superintendent of Schools and Leadership Coach for the NYC Department of Education, Dr Mims provided targeted coaching to principals and leadership teams, ensuring effective talent management in some of the most challenging school environments. His guidance has led to improved performance in  hard-to-staff schools, demonstrating their commitment to educational equity and excellence.

Currently, as a Senior Adviser for Special Education Leadership with the NYC Department of Education, Dr Mims provided coaching, accountability and support to NYCPS superintendents leading to a historically high level of provision of services for students with IEPs.  Dr Mims has a keen understanding and empathy for leaders and can accurately diagnose and predict their needs.  As a result of Dr Mims' leadership, equity, access and inclusion for students with IEPs are the norm and not the exception.

In the UK, Dr Mims was honoured to have worked with the Rt Hon Diane Abbott MP, with The London Schools and the Black Child. He was recently invited to join Future Ed, an awarding ecosystem powered by Aspire Education Group.  Future Ed collaborates with policymakers and civil society organisations across the UK to advance specialist support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.  His strategic advice is particularly valuable as the UK government reviews its policy and looks to North America for best practices.
