Most applicants are required to take a written admission assessment either pre-interview or at-interview, depending on the course applied for. The online prospectus gives detailed information about which courses require a pre-interview or at-interview assessment. They will form part of our holistic assessment of applicants, rather than being a stand-alone mechanism for interview selection.
The pre-interview assessments are administered for by the Cambridge Admissions Testing Service (CAAT). For 2022 entry, the pre-interview assessments are currently scheduled to take place in early November 2021, to be held over two days, on Wednesday, 3 November (BMAT, ECAA, ENGAA, NSAA) and Thursday, 4 November 2021 (TSA, TMUA, ELAT). Please regularly check the Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing website for any updates and additions. Further information is available on this page. If you are not registered by the relevant deadline (1 October: TMUA registration deadline for Computer Science applicants and BMAT registration deadline for Medicine applicants taking November BMAT / 15 October: Pre-interview assessment registration deadline, other than BMAT and TUMA), you will not be able to take the appropriate pre-interview assessment, which will mean your application to the University of Cambridge will not be valid.
The at-interview assessments will also be conducted remotely in 2021. If you have applied to a course that requires you to take an at-interview assessment, please check the information about arrangements on the At-interview assessments page. No advance preparation will be needed, other than revision of relevant recent subject knowledge where appropriate. Most at-interview assessments will be one hour in duration. Further guidance will be provided by the College in your invitation to interview. If you have any queries about your at-interview assessment, please contact the Admissions Office at Homerton.
