  • ‘Research Proposals’ (pdf): a brief guide put together by Homerton Fellow Dr Roberto B. Sileo to provide some tips on getting going with how to plan a longer research project such as a dissertation.
  • Literature Searching for Undergraduates Moodle Course. A course you can work through in your own time – taking about 1 hour to complete. It aims to sharpen your techniques for searching effectively so you can locate relevant material for extended essays and dissertations.
  • Libguide on Literature Searching. Provided by Wolfson College. Tips on how to search effectively. A video on how to branch out from Google. Information and tip videos tailored to Google Scholar, JStor, Web of Science and Scopus. Downloadable materials such as a search strategy worksheet and a literature searching guide.
  • Libguide on keeping your up to date with your topic or field of research. Provided by Wolfson College. Tips on how to keep up to date with the latest articles in your field and how to set up alerts in scholarly databases.
  • Dissertation Toolkit. Designed by the MMLL faculty but is useful for most students undertaking a dissertation, especially those in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Has advice, information and explanations of what is required of you when researching and writing a dissertation.
