General Information about financing your studies

When applying to university, you'll need to consider a range of costs, including tuition fees and living costs. The tuition fee you pay for your course will depend on whether you are classed as a Home or Overseas student. The finance information available to you will also be different depending on your tuition fee status. The finance information on this page is for offer holders with Overseas fee status starting their course in October 2024. Please read all the information on this page.

  1. If your offer is for deferred entry for 2025, please see the pages for Deferred entry
  2. Before you begin studying as an undergraduate there are certain costs you need to consider, such as tuition fees, College fee and living expenses. Please have a look at International fees and costs for further detailed information, as well as all the information on this page.
  3. There is also a helpful section about Tuition Fee Status and an overview of being classed as either Home or Overseas for fee purposes. More information can also be found on the UKCISA website and in the main finance section.
  4. If you have a look at your offer letter, the total annual tuition fee for each year for your course is set out in the box on page one. This is made up of the annual tuition fee + annual College fee. For further details about the additional estimated annual expenses, such as accommodation, living expenses and personal expenses whilst a student, please have a look on page three of your offer letter, under 'tuition fees and other costs'.
  5. Part of your offer conditions is to provide a satisfactory financial guarantee. The information on this page will provide further guidance about this and what exactly is required from you. Have a look at the information under these headings on the page: Financial Guarantee Explained and Documents and Finance Evidence to send to the College for your Financial Guarantee.

HELPFUL TIP: For your financial guarantee, it is very important to read through all the information and to send in exactly what is asked for. If you are not sure what to send in after reading all the information below, and/or have any questions about what is required for your financial guarantee, please email the Admissions Office as we are always happy to help with any questions.

Information on Tuition fees, College fee and living expenses

Tuition Fees:
Tuition fees for international students vary depending on the course you're studying. Most international students also have to pay College fees in addition to tuition fees. See international fees and costs for details.

College Fee:
All Overseas fee status students, and those Home fee status students who aren't eligible for tuition fee support (e.g.: affiliate students), normally have to pay the College fee in addition to University tuition fees. The College fee covers the cost to your College of providing a range of educational, domestic and pastoral services and support. The annual College fee may vary between Colleges and in many cases are fixed for the duration of your course. The College fee for Homerton for 2024-25 is £11,300 as published in the document, Undergraduate tuition fees 2024-25, on this page.

Living Expenses:
Your living expenses may be higher than for a UK student (e.g.: if you stay in Cambridge/the UK during vacations). In 2024-25, the minimum resources needed in Cambridge for the year (excluding tuition and College fees) are estimated to be approximately £14,600, depending on lifestyle and whether you will be in Cambridge during term time only or will be in Cambridge all year round. Applicants should be aware that because maintenance rates are set more than a year in advance based on inflation rates at the time, the cost of living may have risen before you arrive in Cambridge. Please note that all students should ordinarily be available to live and study in Cambridge for the full duration of their course (with the exception of the year abroad for certain courses).

bank statement is a printed document from the bank for the account where you are keeping your money.
