Qur’an

The noun ‘Qur’an’ comes from the Arabic verb, قَرَأَ, meaning ‘to recite’. This points to the fact that much of the other worldly beauty of the Qur’an, believed to be the direct Word of God, is in its oral transmission. (To that end, there’s a link above to a website which allows you to listen and read the text at the same time.) The Qur’an is a unique, sublime and challenging text which a must read for a scholar of Islam.
