HIP is a multidisciplinary summer course designed for international university students to experience life as a Cambridge student, improve their English language skills but also develop their wider opinions and critical thinking.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the HIP has moved online, with any in-person courses cancelled for summer and winter 2021. Our online programmes cover similar topics, with a focus on Global Leadership and Cultural Understanding in English.
We will return to campus-based activity in summer 2022.
Our Global Leadership programme aims to develop critical thinking and communication skills, providing our students with a number of opportunities to discuss some of the challenging issues facing society. Students will have an opportunity to work on a group project and also deliver an individual presentation during their stay. Not only will they improve their spoken English but also their debating and presentation skills.
Cultural Understanding in English Language Classes
This programme enables students to compare cultural differences in highly focused and innovative English language classes. These classes are based on University teaching principles and are designed to complement cultural activities such as punting, traditional afternoon tea and formal dinner in our Great Hall.
The Professional Development Programme (PDP)
The PDP is a week-long lecture based programme that provides a stimulating learning environment to upskill and improve knowledge across a diverse range of current topics in the areas of business, science, technology and innovation. Designed for executives and academics at a variety of levels from Masters to Post-Doctorate, they are taught by university academics and lecturers who are specialists in their fields of research.
