Homerton has its very own music society that hosts a number of lunchtime recitals and evening performances each term. The society exists to encourage the appreciation and performance of all kinds of music, at whatever ability. Membership of HCMS is open to all students, staff, and non-Homertonians, with costs as follows:
- £5 for an annual student membership
- £10 for an annual non-student membership
- £12 for a lifetime student membership (must be a student at the time of buying membership)
- £20 for a lifetime non-student membership
Students who would like to perform or who are simply interested in getting involved should contact the HCMS President.
The society is run by a committee comprising students and a few Fellows, who represent the various types of musical activities that are ran in College. This includes (but is not limited to) a President, Treasurer, Recitals Manager, and representatives for the Homerton Orchestras, Homerton Jazz, and Absolute Pandemonium (the steel pan group). For more information about joining any of these ensembles, see the 'Music' pages.
Each year these committee positions and various others are opened up for other students to take on the role and to get involved in the society. Any Homerton student who is a member of HCMS is eligible to stand. You can get in touch with the society via their Instagram or Facebook pages.
