Postgraduate study

We are proud to have one of the largest student bodies in Cambridge, and we value highly the extra dimension postgraduates bring to our College community.

Welcome to Homerton

At Cambridge, your College is your home and your ready-made community. As a postgraduate student, you will spend most of your time immersed in work organised by your Department or Faculty, so your College gives you the opportunity to meet and mix with people undertaking other courses and in other areas of study, often making lifelong friends.

Why choose Homerton?

Homerton is renowned as being a friendly, forward-thinking College. We foster a sense of belonging amongst our diverse student body, and are committed to widening participation in our University for those from all backgrounds. We’re proud to be home to over 600 postgraduate students from all over the world, who study here for many of the varied courses offered by the University of Cambridge.

Homerton feels like a second home to me—it’s always warm and supportive. Everyone, from students and tutors to porters and staff, is so friendly. Even the Principal always gives a warm greeting when I walk past his window.

Alongside striving for academic excellence, we are mindful of the importance of research in practice, and the dynamic relationships between postgraduate studies and the wider world. We believe education is a whole-person activity, and wellbeing is integral to personal, local, and global thriving, as embodied in our co-curricular Changemakers programme. Members of our postgraduate community enjoy purpose-built accommodation and common areas on our beautiful College site, a lively series of social and academic events, including our dedicated Postgraduate Toolkit, and a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

Both new and old, we are the only twenty-first century College, being granted full collegiate status in 2010, but with a history of commitment to public service and education going back over 250 years. That means we can draw where appropriate on centuries of knowledge and tradition, but we are able to evolve to face today’s challenges and meet new student needs. We encourage anyone interested in joining us for the next phase of our journey to nominate Homerton as a choice of College for postgraduate studies and we extend a warm welcome to any prospective applicants.

Postgraduate Open Days

We regularly participate in the University's autumn Postgraduate College Visit Days. When you apply to Cambridge as a postgraduate student, you can select up to two preferred Colleges in your application. Come to Homerton for a Postgraduate College Visit Day next September and find out why you should select us! We'll be running talks, Q&A sessions, College tours (guided and self-guided) of our fantastic facilities and beautiful grounds, and the opportunity to meet some of Homerton's friendly staff and students.

We also hold an Open Day in the Spring for our Postgraduate Offer Holders so that you will have a chance to visit the College before you start.
