Led by our Changemaker Ambassador Vita Pearl, this is a workshop to explore how we can accommodate a range of access needs when running events and sharing information on social media. This would be ideal for anybody who wants to organise accessible events or campaigns*.
Join us on Wednesday 25th January at 7pm in the Drawing Room (opposite to the Griffin Bar). There is no registration required. Just drop by the Drawing room shortly before 7pm.
In keeping with the ethos of Changemakers, we will deepen our understanding of the topic by considering ideas around disability and what it is to be "disabled", as well as discovering ways of taking practical actions for change in our own practices. There will be a mix of presentation and opportunity for discussion.
*Please note, this is not the Disabled Students' Campaign (DSC) Accessibility Training though we will be viewing DSC resources. Society and committee attendees will be encouraged to complete the DSC Accessibility Training in their own time, which will enable them to get their society signed up to the DSC Accessibility Pledge. This will however be a good starting point for beginning to engage in this work.
Access statement: There is wheelchair access. There is padded seating, an accessible toilet, gender-neutral toilets, general car parking, and blue badge parking. Hearing loop available on advanced request. There will be a break within the first hour. This is a relaxed event; you may leave, take a break or move around as you need. You can contact us about access on vap35@cam.ac.uk
