Future Ready!
Students who take part in the programme will get to create their own university style essay on this year's topic: Is knowledge dangerous? In the meantime, they will develop their critical thinking and essay writing skills, preparing them for GCSEs/Highers... and for university!
The course includes:
- introduction to university and post-16 choices
- study skills and critical thinking workshops
- essay writing workshops
- mentoring for producing your own essay
- a Q&A with current Homerton students & more!
We will also end the programme with an in-person celebration event at Homerton College !
And... THERE WILL BE PRIZES!
The course consists of twice weekly virtual workshops from on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6:30pm from 3rd to 26th March 2026, along with a 1-to-1 support session in the week beginning 30th March, and a Celebration event at Homerton College soon after this!
To apply, you must be:
- in Year 10/ S3 in a state school in the UK
- interested in producing your own essay
As places are limited, priority will be given to students who:
- are care experienced/ young carer
- are/ have been eligible for Free School Meals
- have a disability/circumstances which affected study
- have a home postcode classified as IMD deciles 1-2 and/or POLAR4 classification 1-2
- attend a state school in one of Homerton's Link Areas of Scotland, Buckinghamshire, West London or South Yorkshire
