BME Dinner: Inspiring and Belonging

By Lester Holloway 1min read

BLACK, ASIAN and other minority ethnic students came together at the BME Dinner at Homerton last night. One hundred and twenty students, staff and guests enjoyed great conversation and food at the event in the new Dining Hall.

The dinner, put on in partnership with the BME Society, aims to connect students of colour. Opening the dinner, Homerton Principal Lord Simon Woolley paid tribute to the catering staff.

He went on to speak about the upcoming Lunar Dinner for Chinese and East Asian students, to be held on 13 February. "We're going to celebrate East Asian students like no university has done. That's what we do here. And then we're going to have a South Asian dinner.

"I love being your Principal; I don't want to just talk the talk, I want us all to walk the walk. Why? For two reasons; one, it's the right thing to do. And two, everybody gains from that in the eco-system."
