Homerton College statement in response to events in Israel and Gaza

By Lester Holloway 2min read

The deaths of innocent Palestinian and Israeli civilians are extremely distressing for our students and the whole college community.

Homerton shares a desire for the bloodshed to end and a lasting peace to take root. We want the killing to stop.

We believe in peace, justice and respect for all, irrespective of faith, race or nationality.

Homerton has a zero-tolerance of racism in all its forms, including antisemitism and Islamophobia, and we support constructive conversations about the issues that gave rise to this conflict.

At Homerton, we are strongly committed to supporting our people at all times. It is more important than ever that we draw together as a community and support each other at this difficult time.

College officers have spent time with students from the most directly affected communities to hear how we can support them.

We have published a range of resources on our website for those who are seeking support, including reporting; relevant student societies; and other support resources.

Homerton is a home to many of our students as well as a place of learning, and we will continue to stand against racism in all its forms.
