Lester is Head of Communications and Public Relations at Homerton College.  He was previously Editor of Britain's only national African and Caribbean newspaper, The Voice.  Prior to that, he was a Policy Officer at the Trades Union Congress with special responsibility for an anti-racism taskforce comprised of leaders of the affiliate unions.  His communications roles include the thinktanks Runnymede Trust and IPPR, and the National Association of College and University Entrepreneurs.  He also has experience in the race equality field, at Operation Black Vote, Voice 4 Change England, and The 1990 Trust.  His journalism experience includes being Editor of New Nation (which closed during the financial crash), BBC London, and being a volunteer presenter on Colourful Radio and BEN TV.
