We all want to see change, change in ourselves, our society and our world. Change can start locally.
Cambridge is the most unequal city in the UK. The poorest 20% of people in our city take home just 2% of the wealth, while 19% of the wealth belongs to the richest 6%. Local charities are doing an excellent job, supporting families and children living in poverty, supporting people from disadvantaged and deprived backgrounds, and supporting the growing number of homeless.
Join Homerton Changemakers, in collaboration with the HUS, MCR and Changemaker ambassadors, at an event where you can meet representatives from local charities, find out what they do and how you can help. You will have the opportunity to meet people, ask questions and sign up to initiatives which make a real difference.
There will be pizza and beer and the event is open to all students/alumni/postdoc from all Colleges and Universities! The event will take place on 29 January from 15:30-19:30 @Fellows' Dining Room Register here to secure your place
Charities include: Cambridge Refugee Resettlement Campaign, Cambridge Science Centre, Make a Smile, St Johns Centre, UniArk, Cambridge Sustainable Food, Community Student Actions and ANDYSMANCLUB
Note: Homerton students can apply to Changemakers for funding to support specific volunteering projects: modest funds are available to support travel and basic materials. Please apply using this form. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis during Lent term.
